It has been a while since our last podcast which came on the eve of a few months away from home. We are back in NYC now but our place is upside down with kitchen renovations. As soon as that’s done we’ll be back with more O+ podcasts.

Episode 25: Atomic Tour Day 22 - 6000 Years of Fun

The bad news is, this is the last day of The Atomic Tour before Dave and Tara return to New York. The good news is that their last tourist stop is the Creation Museum. While the institution’s literature recommends that visitors “Prepare to Believe,” can Tara and Dave meet the challenge. (Not to spoil it, but: No.) After learning more than they ever thought they could about this 6000-year-old planet of ours, there’s a visit to Skyline Chili, and a truly insane mountain of cheddar cheese. Like, more than you can probably even imagine, actually.

Episode 24: Atomic Tour Days 20 & 21 - Prepare To Meet Thy God

Okay, Day 19 was a bust, and Day 20 was hardly much better. But Day 21 was a BARN-BURNER. Well, not literally — that would be bad, because Dave and Tara do actually spend time in a barn. They also interact with sheep, turkeys, goats, peacocks, and people who say grace in restaurants. They check out the actual real Sunsphere from the 1982 World’s Fair (as seen on The Simpsons). And, best of all, The Atomic Tour finally makes it to The Atomic Museum! Kind of.

Episode 22: Atomic Tour Day 18 - Roswell

Assaulted by another day of amazingly inclement weather (one that makes that rainstorm back in Kentucky look like a gentle mist by comparison), Dave and Tara head for Abilene, TX. (New state!) But first, there’s a visit to the UFO Museum And Research Center in Roswell, which challenge the version of the Roswell Incident they’ve received from the government…and several dozen pop-cultural products about the whole thing. There’s also some clowning at the Texas state line, the walking wounded of Red Robin, and the disappointment of Loving. Loving, New Mexico, to be precise.

New Mexican adventures continue: a Sweet Tomatoes in Albuquerque; the promise of a missile range; a new New Yorker; a new National Monument (and what is the difference between a Monument and a Park, anyway?); lots and lots of sand; Montana-esque terrain; fresh pistachioes; and the promise of super-kitschy alien-rific fun in Roswell.

Eager to wipe away the memories of the horrendous hotel in Moab, Dave and Tara venture out to not one but two National Parks: Arches and Mesa Verde. And they do NOT disappoint. The day takes them straight the hell up to some gigantic red rocks; up and down trails; into cliffside ruins; to impressive elevations; through four states and to Four Corners. Day 16 also features a heartfelt appreciation of the Rangers of the National Parks Service, and a request for information about two revered American fast food chains.

It’s a Grand old Canyon! It’s a high-flying Canyon! It’s…well, not a letdown, but maybe kind of hard to appreciate from the top of the rim? Anyway, Dave and Tara leave Flagstaff but continue exploring Arizona by visiting both the Meteor Crater (FEEL THE IMPACT!) and the aforementioned Grand Canyon. There’s also first glimpses of Kokopelli, red rocks, and Utah. And the promise of the first Starbucks in days! Well, one day. But it *really* felt like longer. Oh — and if anyone is in the market for Indian jewellery, we know where to point you.
